Flip That Romance (2019)
Two house flippers each come to own one
half of an old duplex. Wanting to own the entire building they decide to hold a
contest for ownership. As they compete to win love blossoms.
The crew of a realty home improvement TV show head to Moldova on a segment about an American homeowner transforming a rundown house into an artist's haven. The crew end up having problems with the villagers and a deadly witch.
Deadly Renovations (2010)
A group of renovators and house flippers get a hotel project in Yuma, Arizona that may contain $10 Million hidden somewhere from a bank heist back in 1989. Things turn deadly.
Are We Done Yet? (2007)
This is the sequel to Are We There Yet? (2005).
In this one the family needing more space buys a fixer upper in suburb of Portland, Oregon. The usual and comically exaggerated family and renovation issues are dealt with.
A Good Year (2006)
Based on the novel A Good Year by Peter Mayle [First Published in 2004] An Investment Banker inherits a chateau and vineyard in France. He goes there with the intention renovate the property and selling it.
The Notebook (2004)
Based on the novel The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks [First Published in 1996]
In 1940 a poor guy Noah and a rich girl Allie fall in love with each other and makes a youthful promise to marry and live in a special house in Seabrook Island, South Carolina. However, society, family, sickness and world events separate them. Yet Noah never falling out of love restores/customizes the Seabrook house to win her back.
Under The Tuscan Sun (2003)
This movie is based on the 1996 memoir Under The Tuscan Sun: At Home In Italy, by Frances Mayes.
A recently divorced writer, professor, and critic takes a trip to Italy where she impulsively buys a villa and begins an expensive and extensive restoration.
Home Improvement (1991 – 1999)
A sitcom about a home improvement host, his family, friends and neighbors living in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. The show's humor often revolves around tools, cars, home projects, family issues and a rivalry with Bob Vila (This Old House).
Pacific Heights (1990)
Young couple buys a large house in the wealthy Pacific Heights neighbor of San Francisco, California that is out of their price range. To make it work they will do the renovations themselves and rent out to floors of their home. In finding renters they make a mistake and rent to a professional con man that proceeds to avoid eviction and to steal what he wants from them.

Elvira a hostess of a horror show inherits a mansion in Fallwell, Massachusetts from an unknown great aunt. Needing a place to live Elvira, and a group of local teenagers begin working on improving the old house. As this is happening An Evil Uncle and uptight town’s people try to get her to leave town.
Baby Boom (1987)
A successful businesswoman inherits a baby from a distant relative. To give her new family a better life she buys a house sight unseen Vermont. It is of course a fixer upper. Once there she fixes up the house, starts a successful business, and finds love. The 1980's American Dream.
The Money Pit (1986)
A young couple buys a too good to be true house in Lattington, New York at a too good to be true price. Once they move in it falls apart, unable to abandon the investment they set about restoring the place and live through a renovation nightmare.
Playing For Keeps (1986)
Three friends from New York City find a Deed for a Hotel in Pennsylvania and set to make it into a Rock-n-Roll Hotel Resort. A Chemical company and towns people add problems facing the young entrepreneurs.
Green Acers (1965-1971)
Sick of the complications of modern city life, successful, wealthy attorney, Oliver Wendell Douglas dreams of being a gentleman farmer. Douglas buys a rundown farm from conman and moves there much to the chagrin of his socialite wife. Once in Hooterville they work on making The Old Haney Place a successful farm and fixing up the old very rundown farmhouse. They spend the next 7 years (the series run) trying to do that.
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)
Based on the novel Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House by Eric Hodgins [First Published in 1946] The Blandings family wanting more room to buy a house and some land out in Connecticut. Upon learning that the house is unlivable the Blandings tear it down and build a custom house. Unforeseen setbacks add expense and delayed move in dates.
George Washington Slept Here (1942)
Based on the play George Washington Slept Here
A married couple gets kicked out of their apartment because of their dog. So, they buy a house in Connecticut that George Washington is believed to have slept in. Continuing the theme of this chapter the couple works on restoring the house.

The 3 Stooges
In several of the The 3 Stooges shorts the Stooges have contracting/construction work. I will warn you it never ends well.
American Dad: Season 7; Episode 17: Home Wrecker (2011)
The Smith family decided to renovate and redecorate some of the house. An epic argument is the result.
